Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about VeriTalk's scam protection service
How does VeriTalk protect me from phone scams?
VeriTalk automatically monitors your calls in real-time, analyzing speech patterns and behaviors commonly associated with scams. When suspicious activity is detected, you'll receive immediate alerts and can choose to have calls automatically terminated.
What happens when a scam call is detected?
When a potential scam is detected, VeriTalk will play an audible warning notice that will be heard only by you (the caller will not hear it). You can choose to enable automatic call termination or receive alerts only. All interventions are customizable in your account settings.
Will VeriTalk record or store my phone conversations?
VeriTalk does not record or store call audio. We do extract and analyze threat signals from the call using AI — things like what the caller said and how they said it. By default, we do not store these details. If you enable "call-detail retention" in your settings, we keep an encrypted summary of threat signals and a label of what we think the call was about (e.g., "suspicious," "fraudulent"). We hold the encryption key on our servers, so encryption protects you against database leaks but is not end-to-end — we can decrypt your data if needed. If you disable retention (the default), we store only call metadata: when it happened, how long it lasted, and a threat-level label. No conversation details at all.
What do you mean by "personal data"?
Personal data means your email, phone number, and call summaries/intent labels — but only the parts under your control or requiring your consent. Call metadata (timestamps, duration, threat level) and third-party identifiers (caller numbers, your contacts) are not personal data under our definition, though they are still protected. See the full Definitions section on our privacy page for details on what we store, how long, and what that means for your privacy.
Will VeriTalk scan calls that I initiate?
No. VeriTalk only scans incoming calls. We may add outbound scanning in the future, if there is sufficient demand.
Does VeriTalk work with any phone carrier?
Yes, VeriTalk works with all major cellular providers in the United States. Through the use of our app, it integrates seamlessly with your existing phone service.
Can I use VeriTalk with a landline phone or non-smart cell phone?
VeriTalk is currently designed to work only with smartphones, although we may include future support for landline service if there is sufficient demand.
Can I protect multiple family members with one account?
Yes! Our Family Plan allows you to protect up to 10 phone numbers under a single account, with a unified dashboard to manage all protected lines.
Is there a free trial available?
Yes, you can try VeriTalk free for 7 days with our demo version. This includes all features of our standard plan so you can experience the full protection capabilities.
How much does VeriTalk cost?
VeriTalk is currently in development. We will provide a free trial period for our beta users. After the beta, we will announce our pricing model.
How long do you keep my data?
Call metadata (timestamps, duration, threat level) is kept for 180 days and then automatically deleted. Encrypted call summaries and intent labels follow the same 180-day window; if you turn off retention in settings, we stop storing them for future calls. If you delete your account, we give you 90 days to change your mind, or you can choose immediate deletion. After that, all your data is permanently deleted. See the Definitions section on our privacy page for more information.
